This rohe map represents the area over which Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki exercises kaitiakitanga for the purposes of the Resource Management Act 1991 and is based on the Area of Interest agreed between Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki and the Crown in the Deed of Settlement signed on 07 November 2015. Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki Area of Interest from the Deed of Settlement [JPG, 242KB].

➤ Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki exercises kaitiakitanga alongside all other Iwi that also have interests in these areas.

➤ Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki defers to Tauranga Moana iwi for RMA matters within Western Bay of Plenty District Council and Bay of Plenty Regional Council.

The Ngāi Tai rohe area of interest within the wider Hauraki "Matakana ki Matakana" rohe extends from the top of Kohukohunui maunga (in the Hunua Ranges) to Otata on Aotea (Great Barrier Island), then to Kawau Island and south to Te Onewa "by the Harbour Bridge", then down State Highway 1 to Mangatawhiri and back north to Kohukohunui.
