The “Pouākani People” are a community with Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Raukawa and Te Arawa affiliations and are defined as the descendants of the original owners of the Pouākani Block as determined by the Māori Land Court on 4 August 1891.
